จัดเป็นจัดเป็นพวกราที่มีก้านชูอับสปอร์รูปร่างคล้ายกระบอก ก้านชูนี้เรียก "แบซิเดียม" ขยุ้มไมซีเลียมมีผนังเซลล์ จัดอยู่ในฟังไจที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุด มีขนาดเท่าครึ่งหนึ่งของหัวแม่มือ ลักษณะรูปร่างเป็นสายมีผนังกั้นสมบูรณ์รวมกันอยู่เป็นกระจุกใหญ่ ในต้นที่เจริญเต็มที่มีทั้งสายที่เซลล์มีนิวเคลียสเดียว และสายที่เซลล์มี 2 นิวเคลียส มีไรซอยด์ทำหน้าที่ดูดอาหารจากพวกซากพืชซากสัตว์ที่เน่าเปื่อย โดยที่ไรซอยกระจายออกเป็นรูปพัด และสีออกเป็นสีขาว เหลือง หรือสีส้ม จะเห็นได้ในช่วงเดือนมกราคมถึงเมษายน เป็นช่วงที่มีอากาศหนาวและอากาศชื้นมาก โดยที่เชื้อราชนิดนี้แพร่พันธุ์และกระจายด้วยตัวเอง
